Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West constituency, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has condemned the ethnocentric comments by Head Pastor of Glorious Wave Church International, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi.
She is, thus, calling on the man of God to immediately apologise to Ghanaians, especially women because she believes the comment is in a bad taste.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful, who is also the Communications Minister, noted that Prophet Kobi’s supposed research which he claims to have conducted is flawed and it was such researches that “led us into slavery 400 years ago.”
According to her, Prophet Kobi could have said those words mistakenly or as a joke, but he must admit he is wrong and reflect over his actions.
“Men of God don’t talk that way. If you have any remorse, apologise to us and be free. It is not just an insult on the tribes he mentioned but women in general,” she stated in Twi.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen, Wednesday following the man of God’s ethnocentric comments on women.
“Fante women are foolish sometimes and Ewes too are doormats. But for Ashanti women no!…If you marry Ashanti lady, you have imported problem for yourself forever. I have done research and it is so and I’ll never marry an Ashanti woman…” Prophet Kobi told his church members.
But, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful, said “the next time he makes such a comment, we may never know which tribe he will attack. He should just go on his knees and pray and if you are remorseful, apologise,” she noted.
