During menopause, there is a significant disruption in the production of certain hormones in your body, including the estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, which thus, consequently results in hormonal fluctuations. These unusual changes in hormone pattern can make the body want to also react in strange ways. These strange reactions of the body to the hormonal fluctuation is what comes as menopause symptoms.
Even though the signs of menopause may vary based on the women suffering from them, there are a few symptoms common to all women during this stage of life. This could include the irregular periods, hot flashes, and reduced sex drive.

#1: Irregular Periods
This is one of the symptoms of menopause that you may not be able to avoid and it’s caused as a result of decreased levels of progesterone and estrogen. You may have your period lighter or heavier than usual, with longer intervals between periods. Be prepared and keep tampons and pads with you at all times.
#2: Hot Flashes
Hot flashes or hot flushes are being reported in more than 75% of women going through menopause. It is usually a sudden, intense feeling of heat that could cause sweating, flushing and general discomfort. Prepare for this by keeping a bottle of cool water at all times and avoid crowded areas.
#3: Vaginal Dryness
This is also a common symptom suffered by most women during menopause. It could include itching soreness, burning, pain or light bleeding during intercourse. It also happens as a result of the drop in estrogen levels during menopause.
#4: Night Sweat
Often considered as the severe version of hot flashes but occurs only in the night when you sleep. It is accompanied by intense bouts of sweating and inability to fall back to sleep after waking up. This symptom can result in insomnia and a loss of energy if it persists.
#5: Low Libido
As a result of the fall in the levels of hormone during menopause, women also often experience a drop in their sex drive. Loss of libido during menopause could be a troubling side effect of menopause as it could affect your intimacy with your spouse as well as your overall relationship with him.
However, there could also be some other symptoms common to women during menopause including: sudden, usual fatigue and occasional mood swings.
